May is here which means Better Speech and Hearing Month! This month, we celebrate communication and educate others about its importance!

A common misconception about speech-language pathologists is that we only help people talk. It is true that we help people talk, but the field is much broader than that! Speech therapists’ scope of practice includes literacy, alternative communication, articulation, cognition, motor speech disorders, stuttering, receptive language, expressive language, voice, pragmatics, feeding, and swallowing.

Communication disorders that are untreated will often lead to social, developmental, and academic challenges. At PHH/Texas Kids, we evaluate, educate, and provide direct therapy interventions for various diagnoses that are tailored to fit each child’s specific needs.
